York River Landing Never Again

We love York Beach Maine and we love going out to eat while we are there!!!

Bosn's Landing

Bosn’s Landing

It was sad news when we found out that an old favorite Bosn’s Landing had closed.  They were our first stop for breakfast and my Mom loved their prime rib dinners and we loved their seafood!  The people that worked there were excellent!

We were very excited to learn this summer that a new restaurant had opened in the same location as Bosn’s.  The new owners spent a lot of money on construction and the inside is completely done over and looks beautiful.

Well, we visited on 8/11 and I can say without a doubt that I will never return there again.

My Mom loved her prime rib.  My brothers were served a sample size of fried scallops and I cut myself on the boiled lobster.  (if you read my blog you’ll see that I’m not a lobster novice either!!!)

In the photo below you can see the sample size of scallops, the evil lobster and the table with the slanted edges.  I almost laughed out loud when I saw the portion size.  : (

Oh and I asked for lemon with my lobster.  Are there lemons in that photo?  NO!  I got up and walked to the kitchen door to get my own lemons since our waitress seemed to disappear to take care of other tables in another part of the restaurant!

“Can I help you?”

yes, get me a time machine so I can go back in time and decide to SKIP the York River Landing.

My lobster injury.  The photo below is me dining out after my lobster injury.  When I told  the staff at the next restaurant what happened and the treatment I received they were horror struck.

My York River Landing TripAdvisor Review:

Visited for lunch today 8/11. Was looking forward to trying a new place that replaced one of our old favorites Bosn’s landing.

The good: the new building is beautiful. The cups of chowder were generous and yummy! My mom loved her prime rib. They liked the steamers too.
The lobster was ok but…….

The bad: the wait for chowder seemed a bit long. (Most places it comes out before the steamers, not at the same time.
The tables have a strange slant and several tables during lunch had things fall off.
The portion size for the scallop plate was very small for the price.
I saw one waitress circulate with water for her tables, but I don’t think we got refills on soda or water.

The really bad: I cut myself while trying to crack open my lobster tail. Had to ask for a bandaid and antiseptic and they seemed unprepared almost unwilling to assist.

In hindsight I should’ve let a manager know what happened.

Also I’ve had lots of lobster over the years and never drew blood!!!

Visited a different lobster restaurant in York tonight and they were horror struck at my story!

We dine out each night of our stay and will NEVER visit this place again!

My Yelp review:

Visited for lunch on 8/11. Was looking forward to trying a new place that replaced one of our old favorites Bosn’s landing. (still missing Bosn’s….)

The good: the new building is beautiful. The cups of chowder were generous and yummy! My mom loved her prime rib. They liked the steamers too. (after we had to ask for drawn butter…..wouldn’t steamers come with that automatically?!)
The lobster was good.

The bad: the wait for chowder seemed a bit long. (Most places it comes out before the steamers, not at the same time.)

The tables have a strange slant and several tables during lunch had things fall off. We lost a spoon when she was serving the chowder and I thought she went to the Kittery outlets to get a new one by the time we got a replacement.

The portion size for the scallop plate was VERY small for the price.

I saw one waitress circulate with water for her tables, but I don’t think we got refills on soda or water from ours.

The really bad: I cut myself while trying to crack open my lobster tail. Had to ask for a bandaid and antiseptic and they seemed unprepared almost unwilling to assist.

In hindsight I should’ve let a manager know what happened.

Also I’ve had lots of lobster (and four times this long weekend before stoping here) over the years and never drew blood!!!

*** I hope they were better prepared with the cleanup. The cut was in the awkward spot at the base of my thumb and there was blood on my place setting/utensils/cloth napkin. (they suggested I go into the restroom, but I’m sure a public restroom is a breeding room for germs)

Oh, and spend some money and pave over your parking lot!

So, NO!  When I return to York Beach Maine I won’t be visiting the York River Landing.  There are many other places, with better service that we will be visiting!

Obviously I’ve been thinking about sharing this since August.

We still miss Bosn’s!!!!!!!!
